The TWA Hotel officially opened on May 15 2019 and since then has been the most photographic location for unique engagement photos in NYC. The TWA Hotel also hosts weddings and it makes the most perfect backdrop for couples who love adventure and travel. The TWA Hotel was developed from the head house of the TWA flight center that was designed in 1962 by architect Eero Saarinen.

The TWA hotel has unique futuristic designs yet feels a bit retro at the same time. It definitely feels like you are time traveling! It has so many photo spots and this definitely was the most unique engagement session we have ever done!

At the back of the hotel, you can even enter a small aviator plane that is decked out with a cocktail bar.

Why the TWA Hotel makes for the perfect wedding venue?

1. Indoor space is perfect for any bad weather forecasts
2. The interior architecture is so unique
3. For adventure seeking couples, this is the most perfect location for epic wedding photos!
4. Located just right at JFK which makes it perfect for out of town guests
5. Create a Wow factor for your guests when they experience such a unique venue that lets them travel through time!

What is the cost of having a wedding at the TWA Hotel?

The starting site fee for wedding ceremonies is 3500 during peak season and 1500 for off season.

The Constellation Ballroom is 7000 square foot large with 21 foot ceilings which makes it perfect to host large events of 500 guests.

The 1962 Room is perfect to book for 450 guests at your reception. Covered in beautiful red carpet with contrasting circular lighted ceilings, it sure makes a unique wedding venue! The quote during an off season pre pandemic pricing was $40,000 for booking of the red room, staffing and food.

About our engagement session at the TWA Hotel:

Julie and Ellison loved the space of the TWA Hotel and even highly considered the TWA Hotel as a venue space for their wedding day but since they decided to have a wedding at Bryant Park Grill, they really wanted engagement photos here instead!

We started our session at the main hall of the TWA Hotel, with the departure/arrival signs. Then, we made our way to the second floor to get a picture at the iconic bridgeway. After that, we took photos with the retro phone booth! After all those photos, we took a break at the cocktail bar in the aviator plane just located at the back of the TWA Hotel – and of course, took amazing photos on the runways with the plane in the background. We ended the session at the front of the hotel with the retro cars parked outside.

Q and A:

When is the best time to get photos at the TWA Hotel?

The morning light that shines through the glass windows of the TWA Hotel makes it a photographer’s dream! You get amazing beautiful soft glow and can play with harsh lighting to create a unique story in each photo.

What should I wear to the TWA Hotel?

Play up the retro theme! Go crazy with retro floral prints, have fun with textures (maybe even wear a feather flapper dress?!), and have fun with pops of colors! The TWA Hotel is mainly red and white so think about colors that can compliment the space. And lastly, top it off with a unique luggage to go with the travel themed shoot!

How do I get to the TWA Hotel?

  1. Take a flat fee yellow cab of $75 to the TWA Hotel
  2. Take the A/C Train to JFK and transfer to the Air train. Get off at terminal 5 and follow signs to the TWA Hotel!
  3. Drive to the TWA Hotel and have your car in valet parking for $10.
